Project Description
A sailing school boat is going to be sailed hard for many years. They need to be robust, fun and easy to sail without getting the crew wet and miserable. They also need to be nimble and give the feeling of sailing a ‘real’ catamaran. The designers at NACRA have noted that a school boat will be sailed in a range of conditions yet needs to be safe and fun even when it is a little blowy.
In considering these options, so NACRA developed the 460 School. There is no boom on the mainsail so new sailors can avoid being dinged on the head when gybing or tacking, and the mainsail has reefing cringles for when the winds get a little higher. This boat is designed around two sailing together comfortably. For beaching and launching this boat also has NACRA kick up rudders and skeg hulls.
We believe that this is one of the best sailing school cats on the market, but there again, we would wouldn’t we? Come try for yourself to find out!
